Welcome to the Underground Comix Art cues page   After more than 4 years of dreaming about combining the 2 main things I am interested in – cues and comix – into functional artwork and another nearly 300 hours of actual work, our 1st Comix Art Cue is done.      The cue/case/artwork are on exhibit and for sale at the Electric Works Gallery in San Francisco, CA through the 22nd of August. If your in the area please stop and see them and the other Wilson pieces along side many of your favorite 70's underground artists.      Currently for sale is the custom 6-panel artwork of S. Clay Wilson, an icon of underground comix art, featuring the Checkered Demon and Ruby the Dyke in a classic battle of the sexes.      This cue comes with framed original artwork and a one of a kind Birdseye Maple case with inlaid scrimshawed ivory featuring another original Checkered Demon design.      The cue has a 3-piece ivory handle with ivory and ebony checkerboards between. The ivory handles are scrimshawed with the original Wilson artwork transposed by Howard Thomas. The butt sleeve had ivory and ebony checkerboard with 3 inlaid red hand-dyed curly maple flames with an ivory butt cap. The forearm also has ivory and ebony checkerboard with 6 inlaid hand-dyed curly maple flames with an ivory joint collar. This cue comes with two SS360 laminated shafts with ivory ferrules and Kamui tips that will be finished to size per buyer request.      We have attempted to capture the Checkered Demon persona throughout the 3 pieces. From the red-hot flames of hell to the checkerboards, the cue reflects the over-the-top devil that is… the Checkered Demon.       Cue, case and original framed artwork - $. These cues feature ivory and ebony checkered points and an ivory butt sleeve scrimshawed with the Checkered Demon. A portion of the proceeds from these cues will be given to S. Clay Wilson to help offset his mounting medical and personal bills. For those of you that may not have heard, Wilson received a very serious head injury in November, 2008, and is still on the long road to recovery.  It is not known how long it will be before he is able to draw again so any monetary help is appreciated.      As drawn, the Checkered Demon series cues run $3,500.00. Regardless of the designs there will be only 20 cues made with the Checkered Demon butt sleeve.      In the future we hope to be featuring original artwork scrimmed to cues by other underground artists.
